Once upon a time, in the days of steam passenger train travel, one would depart London on "The Golden Arrow," and then take a train-boat across the Channel to Calais.  On the other side, one would take "La Fleche D'Or," the French Golden Arrow Luxury Express connecting Calais to Paris.  There, one may have boarded the Orient Express to Istanbul with many European stops along the way.

The "Fourgon Truck" model is among the rarest of J&M models ever made.  The model was produced in three liveries:  Fleche D'or as seen here and Etoile du Nord, blue and ivory as well as Le Train Bleu - all blue.  It has been suggested that only ten of each livery were made and so this model is rare indeed.

Note that there is a very minor defect on one of the containers as seen in the fifth photograph.  I replaced two missing door bars with brass door bars and primed them some years ago.  They may be painted to match the container or else all bars may be painted alike.  The bars were probably made of wood originally.  All else is in excellent original condition.

J&M did not keep records of the numbers of cars produced, but the batches were quite small for all models and the Fourgon Truck was likely produced in a single production run.

The above links refer specifically to the baggage cars used by CIWL.

This single 1:32 Scale, Gauge One, CIWL Baggage Car was made by the J&M Model Company in the UK prior to 1985.  The Brown and Ivory or "chocolat et crème" colored livery predates a time when the CIWL changed to all blue or blue and ivory colors in 1932.

Car No. 1262M was a Fourgon Truck baggage container car which generally was placed in the train or consist behind the tender.

J&M made five cars in the set as seen in the catalog cut photo.  Catalog number of this one is EC 133.  I have previously listed a First Class Passenger Car - 4018E ECC 113 and a baggage car EC123.

Once this is sold, you may not ever see another!

While the model looks beautiful on a display shelf, I do hope the model goes to someone who will run it behind a live steam locomotive pulling a French train.

Thank you for your consideration.
