This is a rare and beautiful example of a Medium Sized Wemyss Exon Cow Creamer hand painted with flowering clover and modelled as a sitting cow. Made and painted in Bovey Tracy down here in Devon.

The head decorator was Brian Adams and later Esther Weeks, both now deceased. The base is signed by the artist Brian Adams and impressed Wemyss Ware .Brian died in 2016 so there is not a lot his art available. He has modelled and painted various animals including birds, bunnys, cats, and of course the ubiquitous and famous pigs in various sizes. This example of a Cow Creamer is the only one i have come across and must be extremely rare and i wonder if it might have been an experiment to see if it was a viable proposal. So it might be a "one off"

The Bovey Tracey pottery closed in 1957 after a disastrous strike. Esther Weeks moved to Scotland to train the artists how to paint the new generation of Wemyss artists.
The name now belongs to Griselda Hill back in its original home of Scotland and new Wemyss products are being made
This one is 22cm long beautiful and not a new one.
