Whitby is famous across the world as the home of Captains Cook’s ship, HMS Endeavour, which commenced her voyage to Tahiti in 1768. The town is also famous for its links to Bram Stoker’s novel, Dracula, and it remains a focal point for fans of everything Gothic. The sheltered shoreline of Runswick Bay, north of Whitby, is the ideal place for rock-pooling and fossil hunting, or perhaps just sitting and enjoying the view. Runswick Bay is one of several stunning seaside villages to be discovered along Yorkshire coastline.
