DESCRIPTION:
A simply extraordinary, estate fresh, early to mid 19th century American folk art, New England primitive, hand decorated tin toleware dome top box. All original, first generation enamel paint over a Japanned, black lacquered surface. The front lid clasp is intact, as well as the rear wire hinges. The tin wire lid pull is also intact, unbroken and without any distortions. Absolutely untouched and unaltered. Now 155 to 185 years old and counting. A truly marvelous early American tin toleware, hand painted, lidded box. A superb, extraordinary, early-mid 19th century, antique, early American cultural relic and New England primitive artifact. Incredible paint! It only suffers from some fairly minor enamel paint loss on its decorated lid. There's been no subsequent in-painting or second generation re-painting of the tin toleware box and it remains, nearly as it was originally constituted. Found in north-central Massachusetts, in an early, finely appointed estate along the Massachusetts/New Hampshire state line in a center chimney cape on an early rural farm. All original surfaces. Exciting. Thrilling. Now very scarce.

CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
