This is a large, rare and gorgeous circa 1900 Tryber Piano Company cast iron support plate.

Tryber Piano company was located in Chicago and existed between 1881 and 1916, when it was purchased by Lakeside Piano Company, so the piece is certainly well over 100 years old.

This is a beautifully made and really ornately and gracefully designed heavy cast iron piano tension plate that is 59" long and 9" high at the right end. It weighs nearly 18 pounds and you have to just love how there is a hand hole in the middle that must have facilitated transporting and assembling the piece when all work was done by hand.

The plate is in very good condition, with only a spot on the front where the gold finish has come off. See the photos for details. There is  pretty scrolling around the Tryber name and embossed garland around the Tryber "T".

This would be a great piece of wall art or a component for an upcycled steampunk carpentry project.
