An impressive door knocker with a grotesque mascaron whose tongue forms the pivot for the knocker which is comprised of two cherub putti holding the coat of arms of the Medici family of Florence.

A fantastic statement piece in wonderful condition with expected surface wear, oxidization, and patination consistent with over 120+ years age and exposure to outdoor elements... late 19th/early 20th century.

Similar door knockers were first produced in Italy during the Renaissance.

Comes with a new strike plate I bought to sell as a complete door knocker.

Assembled height: 11" / 28 cm - Width: 6" / 15 cm - Weight: 2kg
