Molybdenum wire consists of molybdenum with a purity of up to 99.95%. Compared to tungsten, molybdenum has a low density (half that of tungsten). This makes molybdenum lighter than tungsten. In addition, molybdenum wire is 99.95% ductile and is easier to process. Thanks to its high heat and corrosion resistance and good strength, molybdenum is still used today as an alloying metal.
Molybdenum wire 99.95% is also highly resistant to non-oxidizing acids (including hydrofluoric acid). It is therefore used in the production of acid-resistant stainless steels.
