Molybdenum wire consists of molybdenum with a purity of up to 99.95%. Compared to tungsten, molybdenum has a low density (half that of tungsten). This makes molybdenum lighter than tungsten. In addition, molybdenum wire is 99.95% ductile and is easier to process. Thanks to its high heat and corrosion resistance and good strength, molybdenum is still used today as an alloying metal.

Molybdenum wire 99.95% is also highly resistant to non-oxidizing acids (including hydrofluoric acid). It is therefore used in the production of acid-resistant stainless steels.

Moly wire has the following properties:

  • excellent strength, corrosion and heat resistance;
  • low thermal expansion;
  • high creep resistance;
  • good resistance to non-oxidizing acids;
  • good workability;
  • can be used as an alloying element.

Because of its unique properties, molybdenum wire 99.95% is used in many areas:

  • in high-temperature furnace construction;
  • for the production of various heating elements;
  • for making lamp hooks;
  • in toolmaking (spark erosion machines);
  • in X-ray diagnostics.
