Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an excellent 1990's era AKG model mic known as the D3400 model dynamic cardioid microphone with outstanding sound characteristics and used primarily for Toms, Snares, Piano and Percussion use. It has a 100% output and it comes with the built in mic stand adapter and original mic case shown.

This D3400 has a unique look all it's own being both bold in design and very handsome, The all metal body comes with a flat black painted finish and thin green accent stripe. This was a typical color for AKG in the 1990's and will certainly stand out anywhere it's used.

This particular mic was also sold in the D3600 and D3500 models as you can see in picture # 2 showing all three models. This D3400 has a frequency range of 80 - 20,000 HZ. Let the catalog pic be your guide as to the performance of this model. I have tested this mic myself and it has a very nice tone with 100% output. I had to clean the XLR pins as they were dirty and affected the connection. All better now. The inner foam / pop filter is in excellent condition as well being free of any rips, holes or odors.

The physical appearance of this mic is quite nice with a minimum of wear. There are a few scuff marks on the body. The mic is free of dents or fractures and the joint mechanism where the stand screws onto a stand is perfect with plenty of adjustable tension. Also the front screen is perfect. No wear. This mic was very well taken care of.

The AKG mics were almost always very high quality and known for their durability and superb sound. The D3400 was manufactured in Austria and is no different. It's cardioid so it blocks out most background noise picking up only what's right in front of it. An exceptional mic that's lite weight and very rugged. It has a very modern contemporary design as well and set at low impedance (600 OHMS) giving a full rich, warm tone.

 I'd rate it a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking.

Mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included but easy enough to find.

The original mic case is included. A great place to store the mic as well when not in use. The plastic case is in very nice shape as well with zero fractures and the original inner foam pads are in very good shape. Great for resale purposes as well as keeping the mic safe and snug.

This mic is ready to go.
