Antique Talavera or Toledo, 16th century Glazed Ceramic Wine Jug 11” RARE.


Measurements: 10 3/4” X 4 1/2” X 6”


This wine jug, decorated on its outer surface with plant and floral elements in manganese blue on a white background, is a good example of the blue and white ceramics of Talavera or Toledo.

Also painted are Bull, Rabbit and a Old Style Spanish House.


The great boom in the manufacture of Talavera ware took place between the 16th century and the mid-18th century, when French tastes were introduced into Spain, and the clientele began to prefer pieces from Alcora. However, Talavera experienced a new Golden Age at the end of the 19th century, with the historicism.


Condition-Very Good for its age.
