Roundleaf Sundew Plant

This plant intrigued Charles Darwin so much he dedicated much of his life into studying it. Now is your time to start a large group of glistening dewy traps. Sundews make an incredible presentation when planted in large numbers!!You don't have to wait until spring to get them growing. Start your plantings now to get a head start as they are slow growing and by summer you can have some small plants. They form small rosettes of leaves which themselves have a rosette of tendrils containing a type of glue that catches any small fly or insect. 

Place in a refrigerator on damp moss/paper towel for a few weeks to stratify.

Drosera rotundifolia, or Roundleaf Sundew Plants, are effective carnivorous plants and can help eliminate insect pests in the garden. My plants regularly consume fruit flies and gnats keeping their numbers very low.

They are very hardy plants and produce sticky dew on the end of red tentacles that catch small insects. They are pure strains with no hybridization. They are hardy to the coldest winters and form hibernacula during dormancy .  Live Sphagnum moss is best but peat and sand mix will also work. They will even grow in pure wet sand.

You will receive 20 Drosera rotundifolia seeds with the purchase of each item. These were harvested last fall and are pure strains.
