Pothos Epipremnum Aureum - also known as the money plant, philodendron, devil’s ivy, ivy arum, Ceylon creeper, hunter's robe, house plant, silver vine, Solomon Islands ivy, marble queen, or taro vine is a long trailing vine with heart shaped leaves. Different pothos varieties have white, yellow, or pale green variegations on the green foliage.

Pothos is extremely low maintenance and can be grown indoors or outdoors in warmer climates.

How To Care For Pothos Plant

Pothos is very easy to care for. You can literally forget about it on a shelf and it will still give you love in return. However, there are a few tips you will want to follow:

*Pothos vines are best grown with bright indirect light and moist, well draining soil. It can tolerate low light conditions but at least 4 hours of indirect light is best.

*Pothos prefers potting soil with lots of perlite to increase the drainage and prevent root rot. It can survive growing outdoors in the United States in USDA hardiness zones 10-12 in an area with partial sun or partial shade as long as it is protected from the hot afternoon sun.

*Water thoroughly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system and decrease the watering schedule in the fall and winter when the plant is not actively growing.

*Prune the Pothos to maintain the desired size and shape as needed. The plant can take a heavy pruning and bounce back with great vigor. A slow release houseplant fertilizer will do the plant wonders. Apply as needed.

*All parts of this plant are toxic if ingested by humans or pets. NOTE: I have dogs & cats, this plant has never been an issue!!

*Temperature: USDA hardiness zones 10, 11, 12; the ideal temperature range is between 70* and 90* However, it will survive lower temperatures, but it will start to suffer under 55* if outdoors.

*Mature Width - 3-4 ft; Mature Height - 6-10 ft - easy to trim

*Propagation: very easy and with high success rate by stem cutting, both with rooting in water or directly into a pot.
