The design is one of French elegance in a restrained sculptural style. The ice cream spoon is a piece that is self explanatory: it is used for eating ice cream. If cake a la mode is served, an ice cream fork is used. Ice cream spoons are very useful, but not a common piece. This shape of bowl is also sometimes called a custard spoon, as the edge is helpful in scooping out the last little bit of custard in a custard bowl. The pics of these spoons do not show the deeper color of the gold wash. The 6 ice cream/custard spoons with gold wash bowls offered here measure about 5 3/4”. These are not pieces of new silver. These items show the patina of as much as 125 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is no silver loss. The pattern is crisp and clear. These spoons come in a flannel wrapper which helps prevent tarnish. I polish all silver before listing on eBay.
