Description: This card has a pack fresh appearance and is as nice in terms of border whiteness as you can find given that it was once taped inside an album.  The tape was partially removed and tore the U and all of the B of CLUB, thereafter it was reattached by the person we acquired it from.  There is a crease in the lower right corner.  There are some noticeable back impressions as well as divots on the reverse side as though it was kicked on the gravel but it still retains tremendous visual appeal and is 100% guaranteed to grade Authentic (AUTH) by any grading company including PSA.

There are a lot of interesting things going on which this card which makes it unique.  First, it clearly shows C. Toms Cobalt Club on the top edge as well as E. Johnston Wanderers Club on the bottom border.  In addition to this fantastic vertical miscut with two names showing, there is far more lithographic printing on the right side compared to all other known examples.  The card is perfectly registered/focused left-to-right and on the right side is additional color which does not appear on any other card of Ernie Johnston which is known.  This is a very interesting study on a key Hall of Fame Rookie card from the very first hockey card set ever made.
