Alaska whimsical plush moose and bear "blanket toss" pin cushion. This pin cushion is patterned after the traditional northern native practice on the flat Alaska tundra of using a blanket from animal hides to toss a single member of the hunting party into the air in order to spot game in the far distance.

Today, the blanket toss in Alaska has become a type of activity used for recreation, competition, and celebrations. Traditionally, the holders of the blanket would be Eskimo people in fur parkas but this pin cushion is a somewhat unique and whimsical adaptation.
