1940's BOGOFF Crown Brooch cast in Rhodium Plated Metal, set with Ice Clear Swarovski Rhinestones
Signed: BOGOFF

ABOUT THE BROOCH:
This is a nice sized Crown Brooch by Bogoff and is one of the most elegant I've ever seen. It is truly "Fit for a Queen" in all of its glittering brilliance. Crowns were marketed by a few production companies in the late 1940's aimed at celebrating Queen Elizabeths impending marriage. (Ref Coro's crown range by Adolf Katz in 1948 and the article referring to same in "American Magazine published Feb 1948) The Crown is well endowed with dazzling clear Swarovski 'Ice' Rhinestones, starting at the rim which is set around both edges with baguettes, next are a row of rounds interspersed with teardrops, these are separated with more rounds and then ribbons of pave set rounds lead up to the 'crowning' glory of a beautifully crafted cross, which is set with 4 trapezoid stones.
Condition:
The Rhodium plating is as new enabling the brooch o keep its Dazzle forever. All stones still hold their original brilliance. The BOGOFF Signature is in excellent clear condition.
This is a highly collectable and wearable brooch, perfect as that "Special Occassion Gift".

ABOUT BOGOFF and their JEWELLERY:

JEWELS BY BOGOFF - Excerpts from an article by Stephen Bogoff
Henry Bogoff born in Poland 1908.
Emigrated to the US
Met and married Russian emigrant, Yvette Glazerman
Bogoffs moved to Chicago late 1920’s, started Spear Novelty Company manufacturing belt trimmings, buttons, and other fashion accessories made with rhinestones. Spear Novelty was very successful, and their experience naturally lead them to the costume jewelry business.
Jewels by Bogoff was founded by Henry Bogoff in 1940 and became leading designers and manufacturers of costume jewelry. Henry was responsible for designs styling and original creations, with an exceptional memory he visited  high end New York City and Chicago jewellers translating diamond and precious stone designs into his own rhinestone creations.
Model makers translated the design from paper into a prototype and through hand made processes made raw castings and hand polished end product.  assembled pieces were then plated with either rhodium or gold. Finally, each rhinestone was glued into place by hand. Jewels by Bogoff had a reputation for very high quality, and every piece was guaranteed for life.
Yvette was one of the first women to head a major sales organisation. With the end of World War II and high consumer demand for luxury goods, Jewels by Bogoff prospered. They has sales outlets in most upmarket locations. By the early 50's there were more than 200 employees working hard to keep up with demand from major retailers. Jewels by Bogoff advertised in leading fashion magazines and for many years was reportedly the country's third largest costume jewelry manufacturer after Trifari and Coro..
Jewels by Bogoff prospered until Henry's untimely death in 1958. Changing consumer tastes and the loss of Henry lead to the business closing in the early 60’s.
