Antique Clement Massier Golfe Juan - French Art Pottery Vase.

A glazed earthenware (terracotta) conical vase with dimpled sides by Clement Massier (France, 1844-1917). The vase measures approximately 11.75" tall x 10" wide and weighs 8 lbs. The top rim is chipped and there is crazing.  The last 2 photos show a similar vase for sale but slightly smaller it is NOT the vase for sale.

Massier is widely considered as the founder the modern ceramic industry of Vallauris, Southern France, and one of the key creators of modern lusterware with iridescent glaze. A master ceramist and glazer, Massier set up his own factory in 1883 in Golfe-Juan, which quickly became a destination for the elite who summered in Monaco, Nice, and Cannes.
