This quality handmade bookcase/wall unit is brilliant for any home looking to blend the warmth of rustic style into the contemporary clean design, it really is a statement piece for any room you wish and has flexibility to be displayed either landscape or portrait way depending on your needs.

I use locally sourced reclaimed wood for this piece,, it is full of charm including: natural grains, knots, lines, density... and the rich colour is simply amazing  - it really is timeless (and currently on trend). It is one of those items that you will only ever need to purchase once as is the quality and durability of this hardwood.

It has been lovingly sanded to a lovely finish, this one having been dyed with Rosewood dye and two coats of wax applied. Talking of wax…I have a range of different wax finishes that I use, you can purchase a piece without any wax if you would prefer, however I tend to wax all the items because it feeds, polishes and helps prevent wood drying out and offers great resistance to water or finger marks. This piece in unashamedly made from reclaimed scaffold board wood and I have “tipped my cap” to this by plaining and sanding this however I have purposefully left some superficial lines and markings as I feel that this adds more character and identity to the piece.

This particular piece is also beautifully finished off with quality screws and capped with dowls which is in keeping with its overall ambience of richness, style and sophistication.

NB: Pinewood is a lovely material to work with, and as mentioned before it has so much character, this does mean that each item will be unique and have its own superficial cracks, knots & lines, but this is all part of its charm, so will look naturally different to the supporting images within this listing as no 2 pieces of wood are ever the same, yours will be a one-off original unit.

Disclaimer & Technical Advice:

Please note that wood was once a living thing, and as such contained rainwater at some stage. Wood naturally dries out over a long time (if not exposed to more water) and every care is taken to ensure that the wood I use is kept in dry, natural conditions with no abnormal fluctuation in temperatures with lots of air ventilation. These are the best conditions for all wood to dry which will reduce the chance of the wood ‘twisting’/‘bowing’/‘swelling’ or ‘cupping’.

Once your item has been delivered to you it will still contain natural moisture within it, which will need to continue to dry out naturally and may lead to additional lines and new superficial cracks as it dries. Please be aware that wood (hard wood & soft wood) is a durable material, but exposure to excessive heat in the form of some household appliances (i.e. nearby: radiators, cookers, kettles) or rooms such as kitchens play havoc with the wood fibres and may cause the wood to excessively swell, twist, bow, split etc due to the woods’ fibres and grains then drying at different rates.
