Here we have a scarce, probable first American edition playbook for this play  written by English politician and author Thomas Talfourd. Today, Talfourd is best known for his long-term close friendship with Charles Dickens. Talfourd helped out Dickens before he became the successful writer that he became, encouraging him from the beginning. The authors gave each other signed copies of their books, with Dickens especially treasuring his copy of Ion, mentioned in the DICKENS JOURNALS ONLINE  which I show a picture of in my last picture. I was unable to locate another 19th Century copy of this book for sale anywhere.--
