Please note this is a universal product, these will fit the vast majority of vehicles but unfortunately there are some such as Renault Traffic Van which has a wider windscreen. We recommend having a quick measure up before purchasing.
Please ensure you read all the
instructions carefully as depending on what style to choose will determine the
correct installation method.
Installation Guide
For best results apply in a clean environment at warm temperatures. Do
not apply in very cold conditions and the films will become brittle and risk
taring.
When you receive your sun strip it is carefully packaged into a large
letter box. This offers the best available protection unlike other Companies
that will tape it tightly together and package in a polythene bag.
If you believe there is a problem with the sun strip please take a photo
and send me a message. DO NOT throw the item away as refunds or replacements
require detailed photos of the issue and may require you to return the sun
strip. We cannot be responsible for problems caused by the installer, if
in doubt get help from someone who has fitted one before. We advise
installation be carried out by 2 people as this makes installation much easier
and where possible apply in a dry, dust free environment out of direct sunlight
APPLICATION
There are two types of films available, solid
vinyl and translucent vinyl. All solid vinyl colours have air-release technology
and is installed dry. The translucent films are a wet installation. Both of these
will come with an installation guide to give you all the information you need
to have a successful installation.
Dry Installation (Solid Vinyl Colours only)
- Thoroughly clean the windscreen
and surrounding area to remove all dirt, grit and grease using either
degreaser / panel wipe.
- Using a heat gun or hair
dryer make sure the windscreen and surrounding area is 100% dry.
- Using two small pieces of
masking tape, mark the level you want at each corner of the windscreen.
- This step requires two
people, remove the back paper and both take one end each and carefully
apply. As this is applied dry you want to make sure you position correctly
on the first attempt. If you need to re-position the vinyl make sure the
windscreen and vinyl is warm.
- Apply sun strip to the windscreen
leaving the excess at the sides and top, a squeegee tool is best for this,
work from the centre outwards.
- Trim off excess vinyl with a
sharp knife being careful not to cut into the window rubber!
- When it is
fitted I would allow a few hours to make sure the adhesive has bonded to
the windscreen.
Wet Installation (Translucent Films Only)
- Thoroughly clean the windscreen
and surrounding area to remove all dirt, grit and grease using either
degreaser / panel wipe. Once clean and dry spray a thin layer of fresh
soapy water (water with a drop of dish soap).
- Remove the clear film on the inside to reveal the
adhesive, spray the water mixture onto the adhesive side as well as the
windscreen and surrounding area.
- Apply sun strip to the windscreen
leaving the excess at the sides and top. The soapy water will allow movement
of the strip to ensure it is placed centrally.
- Squeeze out excess water and
air bubbles from under the strip working from the centre outwards, a
squeegee tool works best to do this.
- Once all the water solution
has been squeegeed, trim off excess vinyl with a sharp knife being careful
not to cut into the window rubber!
- When it is
fitted and you are happy, remove the clear protective sheet that sits on the
outer side of the film to reveal the finished look. I recommend leaving 24hrs
to ensure it is dry and the adhesive has bonded as if the surface still
has moisture under the film and driving will cause the strip to come away
from the surface.
