Here is an attractive antique 19th century brass desk inkwell with a small figure of a pixie, or piskie, sitting with crossed legs on the lid.

This inkwell is made in square form with shaped edges. The base of the item measures about 3.5 inches (9 cm) square, and the top about 2.5 inches (5.5 cm) square. The overall height is about 4.25 inches (11 cm).

The item is Victorian (19th century) in date.

There is no makers mark. The item has a porcelain liner.

This item is in sound and useable condition. There is just some slight wear due to age and a few scattered tarnish spots.

All in all it's a great item, which forms an interesting display piece, or addition to a collection of inkwells, writing antiques or Victorian era pieces.
