Very rare, two New York City Street Commissioner reports for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 1863 (deep into the Civil War) in one "three quarters" leatherbound volume, (boards are full leather, spine is buckram cloth). Reports cover municipal maintenance and upkeep, ranging from expenses for build repairs of police and fire department, parks, public buildings, street lights and fixtures, etc. Also of interesting mention are several pages detailing the various parks on New York City which at this time were hosting encampments and barracks of Union army soldiers, ever prepared should the Confederate foe somehow venture so far North.

Book is in overall very good condition, showing some rubbing to the leather of the spine, especially at outer corner edges. Front has "Hon. John Clancy" gold gilded on front and seal of NY gold gilded on reverse side. Outer page fore edges are also gold gilded. Book has two clothbacked bookbinder's reinforcements at the gutters between the front endpapers and following the title page. With these reinforcements the binding is sturdy and very well intact. Interior of the book is overall very clean. Pages are well intact with only some minor chipping to the outer margins of some of the first ones.

First report totals 109 pages, Second report totals 160 pages. Book measures approximately 8 1/2 x 5 3/4 x 7/8 inches and weighs about 1 pound.
