adopting the Russian Imperial Army in 1891.

Actively used in the period from 1891 to the end of the Second World War, 
in the period repeatedly modernized.

The name comes from trёhlineyka caliber rifle barrel, 
which is equal to the three Russian lines 
(old measure of length equal to one tenth of an inch, 
or 2.54 mm - respectively, the three lines are 7.62 mm).

In the west, known almost exclusively as the Mosin-Nagant rifle.
