The braking system of any vehicle is a critical safety system and over time can deteriorate which can be a huge concern. All 4 corners of the vehicle have a braking system; on the Nissan Figaro it comprises of 2 Front brake calipers and 2 Rear brake cylinders enclosed in brake drums. The brake master cylinder feeds hydraulic brake fluid to each corner via a brake proportioning valve/brake balancer.

The balancer distributes the correct amount of brake pressure to each hydraulic component. It will allow more pressure to reach the front brake calipers in comparison to the rear brake cylinders in order to slow the vehicle down safely. If too little or too much of this pressure reaches each individual axle, it could cause very uneven braking which can be very dangerous. This balancer is available brand new and is a direct replacement for the orignal unit which has a tendancy to fail and leak over time. The all new superceded design is a great improvemnt to the original fitted to the Nissan Figaro when manufactured

Symptoms can be:

Rear brakes locking up before front brakes

Front brakes low pressure

Rear brakes low pressure

Vehicle pulling one way when braking

Loss of brake fluid from leaking valve

These symptoms must be checked by a qualified vehicle technician or braking specialist. When changing the valve, we highly recommend checking and replacing the master cylinder, calipers, brake lines and rear wheel brake cylinders.
