Alexander Newall FRPS.L, is a founder member and current President of the British Aerophilatelic Federation, director of International Federation of Aerophilatelic Societies (FISA) and Vice-P resident of the AirCom of the International Philatelie Federation (FIP).

He is an active national and international judge äs well äs author of over 100 Philatelie (mnostly aerophilatelic) articles.

Alex Newall arrived m England half a Century ago to study engineering at Queen Mary College, University of London. Having scraped through a BSc degree, he took a sabbatical wandering and working through France, Switzerland and Germany, to return to England in late August 1939. He worked in a number of Engineering shops and was called up in 1940 after opting for the Air Force, only to be demobbed after six weeks and placed under MAP. He spent the war in the aircraft industry and started his own engineering business in 1951.

Stamp collector since the age of six, he later specialised in classic Switzerland, in Swiss (and tinally British] Airmails.

His collections of Swiss and British Airmails received to date 23 major awards from a Silver in 1973 to an international Gold in 1985. He is giving an average of 12 displays a year ranging from Ihe South of England to Glasgow.

Married and witri a son and two daughters, Alex Newall lives in London and, still active in his profession, is a working Chairman and Managing Director of a group of engineering companies which he founded.
