This Belt and Buckle are no less than 105+ Years Old and come from the Kingdom of Saxony. The belt and buckle are in great condition. Belts and Buckles from the Kingdom of Saxony are quite rare. Imperial Germany was unified under the King of Prussia who was elected German Emperor at Versailles at the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War. He held the dual role of King of Prussia as well as German Emperor. Imperial German was the last country to be combined in Europe. It was composed of 4 reasonably independent Kingdoms ( Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony & Wurttemberg along with several Grand Duchies, Duchies, Principalities and 3 Free Imperial Cities, 27 in all. The belt measures approximately 37” and is for a waist no larger than 35” long and left the factory natural brown but was dyed black to conform to 1916 regulations ( see interior photo ). The Buckle shows the Kingdom’s motto Providentae Memor ( Mindful of Providence) the interior is marked for the German Patent office DRGM on the pronged catch. At some point in time a prior owner cleaned the inside of the buckle.

If this belt could speak it would have an incredible story to tell.

This is a great collectors piece of history.
