1930s Royal Doulton Harlech Castle open sugar bowl, Empire shape, pattern D5413.

The backstamp includes the unusual "flat iron" backstamp.

There is no record of what the "flat iron" signifies or why it was used.

14 cm across the handles, 6.8 cm wide and 6.5 cm high.  

No chips, cracks or glaze crazing.  A couple of scratches in the main scene (see photo).  

No wear to the green edge trim.  Shiny glaze.  No repairs.
