A superb and rare photo of World Champion Walter Villa and National Champion Jay Springsteen at Daytona in March 1977.
The great Jay Springsteen is seen sitting on his Harley-Davidson racing bike, the great Walter Villa, is seen squatting next to him.
It is a classic photo of two of the greatest riders all time. Jay was a multiple National Champion that has won numerous races on Harley’s factory racing machines. Up to 1984, Jay has won 38 Grand National championship races, which was more then any other rider. He won more half mile nationals then any other rider and more mile track nationals then any other rider as well. In 1976, 1977 and 1978 he became National Champion on his Harley factory XR 750.
Walter Villa was one of the greatest riders ever, winning a number of 250cc and 350cc world championships for Harley-Davidson in the seventies, with the great two stroke twins that were an Aermacchi - Harley-Davidson development. Really, none of them need no further introduction.
It is a truly great shot, that shows the bike and the riders in nice detail. The Daytona tower and grandstand are nicely in the background.
It is a gorgeous non period photo that reflects a golden era of Harley’s famous roadracing era in a wonderful way. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 7.8" x 11.8" (ca. 20 x 30cm).
