From the net:

"Khokhloma is a Russian folk art design named after the village where it has been produced for over 150 years. The bright, lacquered, red, black, and gold designs are ubiquitous in nearly every Russian household, where it is most common to find Khokhloma wooden spoons, dishware, serving containers, and vases along with other decorative art pieces."

I purchased these in the BERIOZKA store in Leningrad (currently Saint Petersburg) in 1988. I only used them for decoration so they are in very good condition, though perhaps a bit dusty. This is your opportunity to obtain a good variety of these beautiful examples of Khokhloma artisanry at a rather good price. There are:

6 egg cups
6 black background spoons
6 gold background spoons
2 cups with handles
2 cups
1 bowl measuring 4 inches in diameter for size comparison.
