Larsen Original for Cello
The famously distinct and embracing warmth of the Original
Larsen sound. Ideal for the classical cello repertoire combining
pronounced projection, easy response and rapid tuning stability
our original steel core string continues to define a new benchmark
for cello.
String Details
Our A and D strings are wound with a special precision rolled
stainless steel flat wire. Meanwhile, the G and C strings are wound
with tungsten, providing a deep, warm and focused sound with
great power and personality. All four strings are offered in tensions
soft, medium and strong.
Our solid steel core Cello range is completed by an E string. This
string is wound using precision rolled aluminium. At Larsen
Strings we make every effort to ensure that our strings are of the
highest quality with the consistently unique Larsen sound.

Complementing the Original range and purpose designed for
enhanced projection, focus and volume particularly at the higher
harmonics as demanded by the professional solo player.
String Details
Our Soloist Edition is offered in all three tensions for A, D and G
optimised slightly above the Original equivalents. Larsen solid steel
cores with the A and D wound with precision rolled stainless steel
flat wire and the G with tungsten.
The SOLOIST EDITION strings are based on solid steel cores, different in
properties and dimensions from their regular counterparts – made for the
demanding soloist player.
Larsen magnacore cello
The Perfected Set: An extremely well balanced set for the professional cellist
offering a charismatic sound with an almost endless palette of colours.
Magnacore A: We have added a lovely edge to the sound, nice and bright so that it
carries but still with that characteristic Larsen roundness. These strings offer many
sound shades, from bright to dark, combined with a new clarity and brilliance
‘a truly singing sound’
Magnacore D: While the D medium and strong have almost the same tension
level, they differ in sound colour. The medium delivers a rich depth to the
instrument whilst the strong provides a brighter almost song-like clarity.
Magnacore G and C produce an incredibly warm and focused sound offering
a wealth of overtones, tremendous volume and exceptional string response –
even when played in pianissimo. Playing-in time has been reduced to an
absolute minimum to deliver outstanding string performance instantly.
The Magnacore Medium configuration offers a wonderfully sonorous and broad sound with a
unique ease of playability which is particularly suited to cellos with a neutral to
bright timbre. Our Strong variant is even more powerful, focused and direct. We can
recommend Magnacore Strong for all set ups but in particular for the darker and
deeper sounding instrument.
