 DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this very nice 1942 California vintage pressed tin automobile license plate topper, in golden yellow enamel base paint with black enamel painted, raised, stamped font. The topper has rounded left and right top corners, as well as two prior drilled holes for easy and quick fastening above a state issued license plate, using the same two bolt fasteners. Remarkably, the tin is besieged by surface oxidation and unsightly rusting, as is often seen on these vintage tin license plate toppers, due to previous exposure to road salt, sand and road grime. The golden yellow and charcoal black colors are still vivid and haven't been diminished over time. The tin topper also doesn't suffer from deformities, tears, folds, creases, dings, dents or unsightly enamel loss or stains (light or dark.) From the WWII era, when if you can believe it, there were far less fewer automobiles in California, even though certain parts of the state were already developing 'car culture,' but not to the extent of the already more developed and higher populated East Coast of the Untied States. Fun. Terrific. What was your granddaddy driving back in California in 1942, some 81 years ago? He may have even fastened this very same license plate topper to the top of his 1942 California license plate on his beloved car. Very cool.

 CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
