Complete maintenance kit major inspection with lots of accessories, tuned for the older BMW 4V Boxer R850 and R1100, version 259 (up to approx. Bj. 2001)
with or without ABS 2. Essentially:
BMW R850GS, R850R, R850RT.
BMW R1100GS, R1100R, R1100RT, R1100RS.
High-quality oils in the right amount, the right filters, plus the right seals and useful connecting parts/tools.
Scope of delivery and information:
4.0 L engine oil SAE 15W50 semi-synthetic from the premium manufacturer Belray. Proven all-season oil for the 4V Boxer, used in our workshop for customer motorcycles for more than 15 years. No complaints.
Recommendation: When changing the oil with a filter, initially fill in only 3.50L (not 3.75L), then bring the engine up to operating temperature and then only top up if necessary.
1.25L gear oil, SAE 80W90 GL5, Belray Gear Saver. High-performance gear oil for hypoid gears, sufficient quantity for oil changes in gears and final drives. 1x 1.0 L can and 1x 0.25 L bottle with a practical filling aid are supplied. The quantity is sufficient/adapted to the work step of changing the gear oils
1x oil filter Mahle OC91.
1x Mahle LX 578 air filter, depending on availability also Hiflo HFA 7910 (equally proven).
2x spark plug NGK BKR 7 EKC, meanwhile proven standard plug for all 4V boxers of this generation, also replaces the Bosch plugs at BMW.
1x can of 0.25L brake fluid DOT 4, depending on availability from Lucas TRW or JMT. According to experience, the delivered quantity is sufficient for vehicles without ABS or with ABS 2 (the front brake calipers, the ABS unit and the rear brake calipers must be bled.
2x valve cover gasket (small/inside), should always be changed during service work (the large valve cover gaskets are usually reusable).
1x feeler gauge 0.15 for the inlet valves
1x feeler gauge 0.30 for the outlet valves
Feeler gauges depending on availability from Förch/Würth/JMP.
1x sealing ring set for engine/transmission/final drive, narrow design aluminum, quality from Würth.
1x screw set M5 for the cover of the master brake cylinder (4x countersunk screw M5)
1x screw set Allen M6 for attaching the cylinder protection bar (if available). Grease screws before assembly!
1x packet of special grease VR500, recommended for all detachable connections around inspection work. One should really take the time eg to treat all fairing screws of an R1100RT before reassembly. Also suitable (tried) for installing brake pads and maintaining battery poles (acid-free).
1x can of brake cleaner
1x good trip.
