PERFORMANCE
The MERCEDES MB 229.5 standard is more restrictive than the MB 229.3 in terms of resistance to aging and
resistance of the lubricating film (extended drain intervals, managed directly by the on-board computer), of detergent and dispersant power (ACEA B4) and furthermore, it requires a significant improvement in fuel economy: 1.7% compared
to the reference strength 15W-40. The MERCEDES MB 229.5 specification applies to all MERCEDES petrol engines,
including AMG except SLR, and all MERCEDES diesel engines without DPF.
The Porsche A40 standard is extremely demanding in terms of shear resistance of the lubricating film. Yup
applies to all Porsche engines, except Cayenne V6 and Diesel versions (for these specific engines use a
Porsche C30 approved lubricant such as MOTUL 8100 X-clean+ 5W-30).
The Ford WSS M2C 937 A specification requires extra lubricant film strength to ensure viscosity capacity during the entire drain interval even under severe or extreme driving conditions (sports driving, use
extended, etc.). This specification is required on Ford Focus RS 2.5L Turbo Duratec from 2008 onwards.
Motul 8100 X-max 0W-40 reaches the BMW LL-01 performance level of the BMW group, for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce up to
to 2019 models, then through the end of 2018. For models from 2019, a BMW approved product is required
LL-01, like the Motul 8100 X-cess Gen2 5W-40.
FIAT 9.55535-M2, N2 and Z2 performance levels require a lubricant that is both ACEA A3/B4 and 0W-40, to suit the
lubrication of some petrol and diesel engines for FIAT, ALFA ROMEO and LANCIA produced before July 2007, especially the Twin Turbo Diesel engines (FIAT 9.55535-Z2). The MS-12991 specification replicates these FIAT specifications on Chrysler applications.
Motul 8100 X-max 0W-40 satisfies the requirements of the stringent regulations of the Manufacturers as well as those of the most recent international specifications API. The API SN specification requires high lubricant performance in terms of cleaning/dispersing power against deposits, high resistance to oxidation, high lubricating properties as protection
to wear and resistance to high temperatures for better control of oil consumption and perfect protection of the
engine throughout the replacement interval.
The 0W-40 viscosity grade minimizes the hydrodynamic friction of the oil allowing for fuel savings, particularly at
Freddo. It ensures a high fluidity of the lubricant at the start, a rapid achievement of the pressure in the circuit, of the
engine revs and normal operating temperatures. This type of lubricant allows you to reduce the consumption of
fuel and therefore contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) while respecting the environment.
Numerous manufacturers such as Nissan, Jaguar, Land-Rover, etc. recommend a lubricant with a viscosity of 0W-40 e
at least API SM specification for sportier vehicle applications such as NISSAN GT-R, 370Z, 350Z, etc.
The formulation of the product guarantees a perfect balance between consumption and performance, allowing for lubrication
exceptional (high HTHS > 3.5 mPa.s).
