Imperial German, Pre- Great War, Rare Prussian Dragoon RGT #4 NCO ( Schirrmmutze )Visor Cap. The Cap is Dark Blue with a wide Yellow and a single Yellow Trim Band around the top. Correct Prussian Reich and State Kokarden also present. This is a very high quality Cap that has not seen a lot of service. It is near impossible to find a Visor Cap without some moth tracking, this cap has a few detectable moth nips which are hardly a distraction. This is the first Dragoon Cap I’ve run across in over a decade.

Dragoons were mounted infantry who were trained to gallop into battle and dismount to fight. Troops. Cavalry units were Hussars, Uhlans, Dragoon’s and Cuirassiers. The only Cavalry Division in the peacetime was the Guards Cavalry Division. The Lieb Hussars had only one Brigade. By 1916 Cavalry units were converted to infantry units because of trench warfare in most theaters.
