SLEDGES AND SNOW-SHOES IN CANADA.
In the bright, crisp air of the Canadian winter what can be more delightful than such an expedition as that of which a representation is here given? It is true the thermometer may be at zero or below it, but in the still, dry air the cold invigorates anyone who is capable of active exercise. Sledges and snow-shoes take the place of all other conveyances during the winter months, and no pastime is more delightful than that of driving over the smooth, white surface of the snow well wrapped in the furs which Canada so plentifully produces, and drawn by spirited horses, who, like their masters, feel the stimulating effect of the keen, bright, winter air. The view shows the fashionable drive outside the city of Montreal, which lies extended in a picturesque panorama below.
