Synopsis

Icelandic thriller set in Reykjavik, based on Arnaldur Indrioason's award-winning crime novel 'Myrin'. When an elderly man, Holberg (Porsteinn Gunnarsson), is found murdered in his basement flat, jaded cop Inspector Erlendur (Ingvar Eggert Sigurosson) and his team discover that, some 30 years previously, the victim was accused of a string of horrific crimes - but never convicted. A photograph of a grave then connects the case to the recent death of a young girl from a rare genetic disorder. As Erlendur follows an ever more tangled trail of unusual forensic evidence, he uncovers secrets that have implications for the genetic bloodline of an entire country. Meanwhile, Erlendur is grappling with problems a lot closer to home as his daughter Eva (Agusta Eva Erlendsdottir) stumbles into drug addiction and sexual promiscuity.
