A book plate engraved print signed by Geikie and entitled ‘Settling the Crummie’ (cow with a crumpled horn).

Walter Geikie (1795-1837) was born in Edinburgh Scotland. He was both deaf and dumb but showing great promise for his drawing skills was accepted by the Trustees’ Academy studying under Andrew Wilson. He was well known and prolific in both drawing and print making and is also renowned for his book plates which are highly collectable.

It is in good vintage/antique condition. The rough edge to one side confirms it was originally a book plate
