Vintage Cast Iron decorative grate. This a vintage piece that was usually used where a flue pipe would go through a floor and up into a chimney. There are vent spacings that would allow the heat to rise up into an upstairs room to heat that upper room. This is the 2 piece type where there is a ring that turns to close (or open) the vent spacings. Original purpose is a decorative grate where a flue pipe would go through a ceiling or a floor. Inside center hole is 6-1/4" so it accepts a 6" chimney or flue pipe. Overall outside diameter is approx 15-3/4". There is a small ridge on the backside where it would fit into a ceiling or wall hole - it would fit into a 13-1/2" hole. Surface is rusted as seen in the photos.
