I have here for sale a scarce 4 VOLUME SET of THE ENGLISH ROGUE DESCRIBED IN THE LIFE OF MERITON LATROON, A WITTY EXTRAVAGANT BEING A COMPLEAT HISTORY OF THE MOST EMINENT CHEATS OF BOTH SEXES - Printed for Henry Marsh, London. 

This is a deeply satirical novel first published in 1665 and was one of the earliest novels in English that found a continental translation. Richard Head was an Irish author, playwright and bookseller and Francis Kirkman was the publisher and claimed as co-author. Bibliographically cryptic, as this clearly isn't the true first edition, but rather a late 19th century facsimile that some sources date at 1874. Francis Kirkman is given as the publisher for the 1671 second volume, the 1674 third volume and 1680 fourth volume -- all of which Head denied any association with, claiming the first volume only as his. The true first edition is rare and this later facsimile also scarce. 1665.

Illustrated with engraved plates and two of the volume having engraved frontispiece.

Bound in original publishers bindings, paper covered boards with cream spine and paper title label on the spines. Spines are worn with some loss, board edges are rubbed and board corners are bumped. Pages are rough cut. Scattered foxing to some of the pages. Back board detached on Vol II.land a couple of them are beginning to pull. These books are in good condition, they are tightly bound with bo loose pages, 471; 378; 304;324pp - 19cm x 13cm.

Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped. 

To keep the cost of the postage down to the most economical level per book, you may consider buying more than 1 item from my eBay account. You can then request a combined postage cost and I will combine the items into the fewest parcels as possible - saving you money :)
