I keep looking at the beads on this necklace and can't make up my mind if it is Fox turquoise or Nevada Variscite. The colour is a minty green with a sandy coloured matrix. It does have patches of white in some of the beads which is more Fox turquoise like, but I'm not 100% sure.
The beads are graduated in size from approx. 18mm to the largest center one at a whopping 30mm across. They are not perfectly round and some have been repaired as it looks like they split when drilled. The decorative silver beads with a stamped pattern appear to be dimes made with coin silver, but the stampwork is different from most Native American work. Because I can't identify it as 100% Native American I've put it in the Southwestern category just to be sure. The hook and eye clasp is certainly one used in Native American jewelry.
Total length is 26" weight is an incredible 1226.5 g. or 8.65 oz. That's over 1000 carats of stone! Not for the feint of heart this one!
