Richard Martinez, whose Native name was Opa Mu Nu, was born at San Ildefonso Pueblo 1904. He painted as early as 1920, and, in 1950, was still paining mythological and ceremonial subjects.

A now-famous portfolio of silk-screened prints was published in France in 1929 with only 500 original copies.  Then, in 1979, Bell Editions, Inc. of Santa Fe NM, published a facsimile edition of the 1929 edition. These prints are rare reproductions of the original paintings and are meant to depict life as seen and experienced by Native Americans.  This print is one of many that Richard Martinez created illustrating Pueblo life and symbols.

The size of this limited edition print is 15.75" x 20" on stiff heavy paper and are printed by six-color offset lithography.
