Gun Powder Treason
Antique print showing the eye of heaven condemning guy fawkes, possibly on his way into the Houses of Parliament.
Print appears to be a wood engraving or similar. Not sure of exact age. The original of this print is said to have been printed in holland in about 1605, but I have not been able to find any examples of that 1605 original. A similar print was used in early 18th century common prayer books from at least 1710 but that print differs subtly in design and typography etc. So the print presented here could well be a 1605 original, or a later printing or version of it.
8 x 13 cm.
Small tear to left of door which is more visible to rear.
A little discolouration to rear alongside small remnants of black ink which were possibly transfered during printing when wet prints are sometimes stacked upon one another.
As it is sometimes difficult to properly judge the look and condition of an item from the description and photos alone, please feel free to bid knowing that you can return the item post free if you are not entirely pleased with your purchase.
