Description

Here is the most fabulous victorian rare quality embossed bird in nest solid silver book collar locket . However this locket is really fabulous & a truly exquisite quality example &  i have ever seen another example before of this subject of such fine quality from this maker & it truly epitomises the era. The locket measures  one & half inches by two inches excluding the bail with the bail a further threequarter inches & with a depth of over a quarter of an inch & all made of solid silver. This locket is a beautiful quality book collar locket with a oval shape with exquisite early chasings & a  raised embossed design of tree foilage & in the branches a embossed bird in fabulous engraved detail tending peering in to his birds nest full of eggs in a really delightful scene in stunning detail. The locket opens to put photos in  & nicely has its innards, glass etc & nicely clicks shut tightly. The locket comes complete with its early large silver bail & nicely has a full set of english hallmarks for Birmingham, silver & 1884 for the  victorian era & makers mark for MJG for the renowned maker of michael josepth goldsmith & as with age there  may be a couple of minute marks due to age but  most certainly doesnt detracts in any way, but just mentioned for total accuracy see pics Please note i havent polished it . This really is a fabulous antique locket in very good origional complete condition as stated  that looks so beautiful worn & most certainly will not disapoint & a outstanding very  rare quality example of these. Please note photos taken before polishing so will look fabulous after.
