1939 Poland Józef Piłsudski, Silver 10 Zlotych, ? Mint,
Rare.
Excellent Condition.
ORIGINAL.

The 10 zloty silver coin with the image of one of Poland's greatest statesmen, Józef Piłsudski, is well known to collectors. It was in circulation from 1934 to 1939. Coins of the last year of minting are among the rarest and most valuable.

The design was developed by the famous sculptor Stanislav Volodymyr Ostrovsky (1879, Warsaw - 1947, New York). He spent many years in Lviv: here he graduated from the gymnasium of the art and industrial school, had his first exhibition, after his marriage opened his own workshop, was engaged in teaching sculpture. He even designed several monuments for the city, but none of these ideas were implemented. Instead, one of his largest creations, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, adorns Pilsudski Square in the Polish capital.
