STAUB

Description: Wok with lid and grill

The wok was born in the Asian countryside more than 2000 years ago. Its main advantage lay in the hemispherical shape which allowed all foods to be cooked well with a small heat source. Today the wok has become a fundamental utensil for all kitchens in the world. Equipped with a flat bottom capable of adapting to all heat sources, including induction, it is one of the reference utensils for healthy, fragrant, tasty and varied cooking.

In fact, short cooking over a high flame allows you to quickly cook vegetables, meat and fish while keeping the flavors and nutritional qualities intact. Easy to use, the wok is suitable for numerous cooking methods: Braising or stewing (long cooking with lid on low heat), Frying (in oil by immersion), Sautéing (very rapid cooking on high heat, mixing the ingredients in a little oil), Slow cooking (on low heat), Boiling (cooking in water), Steaming

The wok features a tempura grill to separate and drain cooked or fried foods, keeping them warm. Thanks to its flared shape, cooking requires very little oil, allowing for lighter cooking.

Perfect for traditional cooking, the wok becomes indispensable for typically oriental preparations and ingredients, such as: Chinese cabbage, bok choy, bamboo and soy sprouts, black mushrooms...

Advantages of enamelled cast iron

Enamelled cast iron is a carbon-rich iron alloy coated with a vitrified enamel.

It is one of the materials that best retains heat, spreads it slowly and distributes it perfectly evenly whatever the hob.

Enamelled cast iron also retains the cold just as well, so it can be used to store food in the refrigerator.

All Staub pans are professionally matt black internally:

- superior quality enamel, with great resistance to thermal shock, high temperatures and even scratches;

- it has the ideal properties for cooking both over high heat (roasting, grilling and caramelising) and at low temperatures (stewing, braising and overcooking);

- preferred by the greatest chefs, such as Paul Bocuse, restaurateur and best-selling author from Lyon.

Enamelled cast iron from Staub also offers a very unique advantage: the more a Staub product is used, the more its performance improves, thanks to the physical properties of porosity of the cast iron itself.
