Jan Matulka (1890 - 1972): A Czech born cubism artist who came to the United States before he turned 18.  There he studied at the National Academy of Design before earning the Pulitzer Traveling Scholarship which allowed him to travel to the Southwest and Florida.  In 1919 he went to Paris for the first time and this is when he fell in love with and began studying the techniques of cubism.  Today these dynamic works are prominent features in collections across the globe that attract critics and collectors alike.
