George Brown Petty IV was an American pin-up artist. His pin-up art appeared primarily in Esquire, Fawcett Publication's, TRUE Magazine, and Ridgid Tool Company. Reproductions of his works were known as the Petty Girls and were widely rendered by military artists as nose art decorating warplanes during the Second World War, including the Memphis Belle. See photo # 7 for the B-17 Bomber. Memphis Belle . This picture is not in the yearbook, but you can see the nose art on the plane. The pin up first appeared in the1941 issue of Esquire Magazine. The Memphis Belle flew in over 25 missions in Europe. The Editor, Maurice Edgar Malin came from Kellogg High School, Shoshone County, Idaho.
