This is a vintage estate found hooked rug.  It is hand hooked with fine gauge wool yarn allowing for extra sharp detail.  The rug is round with a 5' diameter.  The theme of the rug is fruit!  The border features grapes peaches blueberries pears and more.  There is a central medallion also depicting a variety of colorful highly detailed fruit.  The rug is backed with burlap which I am sure helped to protect it.  The edges are bound with hand sewn cloth tape.  Judging from its style and where I purchased it, I am estimating it dates to the 1950's.  It is a gorgeous piece that I believe could possibly be a Pearl McGown pattern!  There are no strange odors and the rug is quite clean.  It remains in very good condition as you will see by the photos.  There is scattered subtle wear around the edge and to the burlap backing.
