Description:
Due to the complex design with intermediate shaft and two overhead camshafts, the water boxers of the modern Porsche 911 Carrera and Boxster have a large number of chains and slide rails. These vary depending on the engine capacity or Model year also varies within a series. For example, the chain guides were slightly changed between the 3.4L and 3.6L Carrera engines from 2001 to 2002. The engines of the 911 turbo and GT models, however, are based on the proven 911 technology from the previous models. Here, timing chains as well as slide rails and tension rails for valve control are fundamentally different.
