Vintage HOEFNER tenor banjo, made in West Germany in the 1970ies, model No 738, see original specification enclosed. The banjo is in excellent/very good condition and is completely refurbished. It is all original except for the new strings (32-24-12-10, ball end). Ni plated archtop type metal pot with original head, size 11 1/8 inches, has some spots without coating.  24 top tension hooks and nuts, ornamented metal flanges. One-piece neck, rosewood fretboard with 18 frets, the frets show only very low playwear. Broad nut size of 3.4 cm. Deep wooden resonator mounted with one screw on the back, thin lacquer crack across the resonator back (see photo), low string action (adjustable), loud and clear sound. Stringed in tenor tuning (C-G-D-A), however, Irish tuning is also suitable. Comes in a non-original black hard shell case in used condition.
