We are amazed by how few cycling helmets have protective bug mesh over the vents, and those that do seem to have it on the inside close to your head which often means that your head is still in reach of a stinger.
It can be unpleasant enough getting any creepy-crawly flying into your bike helmet open vent and feeling it mooching about on your head, but if that bug happens to be a disgruntled wasp or a bee, then you can be in for a nasty sting.
During the summertime flying insects are abundant and if a biting/stinging variety gets stuck in one of your bike helmet vents you can be in for a nasty shock that may not only leave you with a painful reaction, but also cause you to panic and come off your bike.... and some people tend to panic the moment they even feel any insect in a helmet vent. You will notice who they are because unless they are in a position to quickly pull up, they will be weaving their bike all over the road in a mad panic whilst trying to get their helmet off!
Our Bicycle Helmet Bug Shields are made from extra-strong fine nylon mesh that keeps out all but the very tiniest, harmless insects, yet still allows great air flow. You will never have to worry about being bitten or stung again.
These Bug Shields weigh so little that they do not even register on sensitive kitchen scales, furthermore, they are almost invisible on the helmet so you won't look and feel like a right plonker using one.
NOTE: You will be sent our standard size bug shields which are 21", they are elasticated and will fit the great majority of bicycle helmets. However, we are aware of a couple of brands and designs of helmet whereby our standard 21" bug shields are a little too small, so we do have 23" available. We understand that neither you or us will know if the standard 21" will fit until you try it, but don't worry, if you do find this to be the case, simply contact us and we will pop a couple of the 23" bug shields in the post to you at no extra cost.
